The “sapphires” (both green and blue) are from Redpower and can be used to make tools equivalent to diamond, with slightly lower damage capacity and without the ability to break obsidian.

Nikolite is *very* useful when you reach the higher tiers of Redpower machinery; I run out of nikolite all the time.
