How is this better than having vines hanging from some ledge with a bunch
of hoppers underneath and just standing behind them (I mean, like… to the
side… parallel with them) and holding down LMB/any button you assign. The
standard reach of the player is pretty much this length anyway. This is
just a waste of resources.

this is kinda a ripoff of twopiggles design he just made. only its not as
good. you get like, 4 times better rates and you auto refil your inventory
with shears with like a million more

For AFK farming, if you don’t want to have to reassign keys you can hold
down your mouse button, hit F11 (toggle fullscreen) and while the window is
adjusting release the mouse button. You can hit F11 again and this won’t
undo the “ghost clicking”. When the window is small you can alt-tab out
and do other stuff on your computer. Or leave, your choice. I prefer this
method because it takes less clicks/button presses.

Thanks, Xisuma! Just thinking – did you try using stairs instead of full
blocks, and would that allow you to angle the mouse down a little more?
Anyway, this is awesome because I’m working on a custom forest biome and
definitely need a lot of vines for trees and floating islands. My normal
vine farm yields about 3 stacks per harvest but this would be a great way
to get some extra vines while I’m asleep. You’re the man! =^)
