Well you are right but also kind of wrong. You can make a pigman farm in the nether which pigman drop gold on death so that can be considered a gold farm. people call pigman farms gold farms often.

It is possible to build a zombie pigmen farm, and they drop gold nuggets so you can harvest gold from a farm.
