Most likely it has to do with your design. I have made a couple different slime farms since 1.5 came out, and they seem to work good.

hey monkeyfarm, did you know you can use potions in xp farm to kill all instantly and get all xp?! If not than try it regeneration splash potion (witch you make from glistering melon)

i personally think you should expand your base all over the map, have fantastic build all over the map to make it YOUR map. Have it where a mob couldn’t spon without your permission……. (sory if i mispelled anything, it’s 3:18am right now and I’m alittle foggy)

As others have touched upon, slimes spawn all over swamp biomes: under the same conditions as other mods, but also limited to specific elevations and the moon phase. Which means you have to darken an area for slimes to spawn, which will also make other mobs spawn. On the plus side, you don’t have to localise a “slime chunk”.

An “old school” slime chunk-based farm will allow you to be more efficient though, as you can prevent other mobs from spawning and be less influenced by the moon phase.

i feel like the TNT mining is slower than just mining it out. but who doesnt like “tsssssss BOOM!”

I love this LP, i’ve watched it almost from the start, and i use your resource pack as well, i love when i see a pig with monkeyfarm on it, makes me wanna watch more from you

You don’t need to be in a slime chunk, slimes spawn just like any other hostile mobs in swamps. But zombies and skeletons also spawn, so it’s not really efficient. With slime chunks you can light up the place. Xisumavoid has a great slime farm design, you should check it out.
