1:18 (Low level) computer progammer speaking here...
The only reason I can think of, that more memory allocation would slow down
the game (by lag spikes) is the following:

Let's say, just hypothetically, there is a computer with 2GB of RAM
(memory), running Windows and Minecraft. The core of Windows itself is
using up 1GB or memory. Now we allocate another 1GB to Minecraft. The 2GB
of physical memory is used up. From now on when a program needs more
memory, we would have to page it. Here's what that means:
Let's say there is an inconsistency happening (e.g. starting the browser,
the music player or Minecraft itself is doing some work). It would need
more memory than there is physically available. The operating system deals
with this by temporarily writing chunks of memory which are currently not
actively used to the disk to make space for the new program. As a matter of
fact, the disk (HDD or SSD) is way slower than the physical RAM in
read/write performance (around 10 to 50 times slower). Therefore the
program is throttled by the operating system (which deals with the memory
and the paging) and causes lag spikes (in terms of Minecraft).

Other than that, let's say you have a computer with 8GB of memory and
allocate 2GB to Minecraft, another 1 or 2GB are used up by OS and other
programs, I don't think that's a reason for lag spikes.

Isn't 1.8.2 already fixed oak or dark oak branches on replacing block ?
That also mean planting down dark oak can't break bedrock anymore , no ?

But I like it when beacon can simply work in nether when you removed all
the netherrack overhead , it's easier than break bedrock ... but then can't
break bedrock means "The Donut" kind of farm can't be built anymore .
