Oh nevermind, now that I look closer you’re not having the same problem at all.. that’s weird, I thought your cave spiders weren’t climbing up properly either.. Disregard this, I guess.

Oh man, Red3yz! I had the exact same problem when working with cave spiders just now. Me and some friends found a quad spawner, 2 cave spider, a skelly and a zombie. We easily made the latter grinder, but I can’t get the spiders to behave like they used to, clumping up in the same spot. I used a crusher setup that I’ve made before, and it only crushes like 3 at a time, because they push each other back..
They must’ve changed something about the AI or hitboxes or something?

wow that is like a mega-pro tip :) have you tried it though? i thought mobs with items did not contribute to the main mob cap? could be wrong about that though. thanks :)
