Xisuma, you should really look at ships’ weapons because for example the
first one only had a basic laser which can’t even peirce 1 layer of
shields, so there is no point targeting the weapons and you could’ve made
you life easier. Also you can attack the weapons with your ion weapon, and
then bring the combat drone online so the timing is right

When a ship is going escape attack their pilot because it will both delay
them and get their Dodge to 0%

One of the best weapons in the advanced edition is the Vulcan weapon. After
a several shots, it fires continuously and is absolutely amazing. When I
got to the endgame I had no trouble in taking down the enemy’s shields.
Flak II is also an amazing weapon as it can take down any shields instantly
so you can fire using something else.

Hey Xisuma, the fight in secor one:
The enemy didn’t have a missile weapon at all! In fact, it couldn’t even
hurt you. (One LASER weapon + one 1dmg-Laser)
Also, I advise you to go for the cockpit. Targeting the engines isn’t
always the best option because you’ll need to ion/destroy them COMPLETELY
in order to stop the ship from jumping, while the cockpit almost everytime
goes offline after 1 hit. ;)

As someone with 100+ hours of FTL played, I have some very important tips
for you.

1. Autofire is almost never good unless you have Ion blast mark II. Timing
is important and that’s something that you do not get to influence when on
auto fire.

2. Distress beacon commonly feature doubled rewards. If you can plan in,
ALWAYS go to them. Be careful in events that may kill your crew or damage
your ship.

3. You don’t need power in the medbay at all times. This goes for oxygen
too. When in a fight, cycling power from life support into engines or
something else is a free boost. Just remember to get back to 100% oxygen
between beacons.

4. To fight the flagship, YOU ARE GOING TO NEED MORE SYSTEMS. This is
pretty much true in all cases except for when you get extreme fire power
and augments (Vulcan, multiple Burst Laser II’s, Weapon Pre-Igniter).
Cloaking and Teleport systems are usually the best in this regard.

5. Get level two shields and level four engines before most offensive
upgrades. These are vital and need to be rushed.

6. FTL makes death fun. I can give you all the tips in the world but you
have to learn through experience.
