If you click the equip button go to potions icon and left click on the
potion you get to use it from there instead of from dwarves

The more condensed your dwarf fortress is with all its stuff, the better
the comfort level. During battle, you can use the equip dwarf menu to use
your health and mana potions. Just click on the potion and select use for
the selected dwarf. When I played this ‘world’ after I got 10 dwarfs, the
zombie hordes came from both directions. Lots of good dwarfs lost their
lives in my game!

paul remember that you dont gonna get 12 percent of confort only for one
shield, the confort gonna be aumented in the amaunt of things of
decorations and how meny rooms do you have with dors. Becouse in real life
in my opinion im gonna feel more confort in a medium house insted on a big
large house. Keep that in mind
