It’s a perfect mob trap!
A room full of these on a floor on the “open” state, and a creeper spanner on the middle. Player has no weapons or armor and has to go through the room by freezing creepers to their places by redstone switch.

you can do that when they close the ground is opened with piston and then you fall :D
